    Murata will showcase its advanced wireless and next generation SIM solutions for cellular IoT deployments, as well as its pioneering V2X communications capabilities, during the MWC from February 27 to March 2, 2023.
    The Murata Type 1SE is a highly tiny cellular IoT module that supports Cat-M1 and NB1. It comes in a 15.4mm x 18mm x 2.5mm form factor LGA container. This module's intended uses include asset tracking, smart metering, home/building automation, agricultural automation, and smart city applications. It includes an STM32L462RE ultra-low-power MCU from STMicroelectronics with an Arm Cortex M4 processing core, 512kB of flash memory, and 160kB of SRAM memory. The module includes an additional 1MB of serial flash. Because no additional carrier or regulatory certification is necessary, this very convenient approach allows engineers to cut the time required to finish development projects while simultaneously lowering the associated expenses. eDRX and PSM functionalities are critical in improving its energy efficiency.


    Game-changing iSIM technology is integrated directly into the company's Type 1SC cellular best iot modules, which complement the Type 1SE offering and are also on show. This allows for significant board area reductions, which means less power is required (due to faster network connect and the elimination of continuous SIM presence detection), which is crucial to battery-powered IoT nodes. As a result, this is the smallest cellular IoT module currently available. Another important feature of iSIM is that it does not require the use of credit card-sized plastic SIM carriers (which have an environmental impact when disposed of, particularly with large scale deployments). Finally, this solution provides greater mobile network operator flexibility, with a profile being digitally delivered by the selected operator at the most relevant location (during module production, module distribution, IoT device manufacturing, or device shipment).


    The Type 2GD will be another MWC highlight. This is a multi-protocol 5G IoT module that is ultra-small and ultra-low power. It is LTE-M1/NB2 compliant and will be 3GPP release 17 compatible in the future. It supports Wi-Sun, U-Bus Air, and wM-Bus protocols and has sub-GHz and 2.4GHz transceivers. When a GSMA-compliant iSIM is required, it is installed into each device.


    Together with its cellular IoT/5G product line, the company will highlight its automotive experience with a V2X demo illustrating how the technology can help make roads safer and traffic flows better. The company's Type 2AN wireless modules are used in this very entertaining demo, together with AEC-Q100 approved V2X chipsets from IC partner Autotalks.
